Types of Cases Our Office Handles in the Town of Cortlandt

For over 25 years, The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel has been representing the people of the Town of Cortlandt who have been injured in construction accidents, car crashes, truck accidents, slip and fall cases, and people who have suffered injuries due to defective products or medications, among other cases. In the Town of Cortlandt, particularly with the numerous highways/major roadways that run through the city, such as Route 9, Route 9A, the Taconic Parkway, Rt. 202, Rt. 129, Croton Avenue and Rt. 6, we represent a large volume of clients who have been issued traffic violations for speeding, reckless driving, or been charged criminally with a DWI, aggravated DWI, or refusal to take a chemical test.

The Town of Cortlandt has a crime index of 63 (100 is safest) as documented by neighborhoodscout.com with an average of 354 crimes annually, including 18 violent crimes and 336 property crimes.

Many of our clients in the Town of Cortlandt are charged with speeding. Conviction of two speeding tickets in an 18 month period for travelling 21-30 miles an hour over the posted speed limit, (which is a 6 point ticket for each infraction) can result in a suspension of your driver’s license, as you would then have a total of 12 points— with 11 points resulting in a suspended license. Further, if you receive six points on your license in 18 months, this results in a “Driver’s Responsibility Assessment”, a fine imposed by the Department of Motor Vehicles which started in 2004. The fine is $300.00, which can be paid in three annual installments of $100.00, or all at once. Driver’s Responsibility Assessments are also issued in all DWI cases in the amount of $750.00, which can be paid in three annual installments of $250.00 or in one payment.

We have successfully represented clients in the Cortlandt Town Court in a variety of criminal cases and traffic infractions. In DWI cases, we have obtained several favorable resolutions of cases, hardship privileges, conditional licenses, and conditional discharges (rather than the onerous sentence of probation) in numerous cases. In traffic matters, we have secured reduced fines and points, and in many instances have secured no point resolutions for our clients.
